Opportunities for MDOs with the Department of Labor

COURSE DESCRIPTION
You will learn how to develop opportunities through DOL contracts and grants. We will also teach you how to position your organization to work within the Department of Labor to provide self-employment training to unemployment, underemployed and job seekers. We will review the requirements, standards and hel you understand how your program can affect the community at large through job creation. This course is designed to introduce you to the larger DOL environment in which business is conducted, namely, the governmental, regulatory, social, and aspects of business development.
The major objectives of the course are:
⦁ To provide a historical context for the integration and self-employment programs, the Self Employment Act and their intersections with the department of Labor.
⦁ To recognize trends and changes in the nature of these interrelationships in workforce development
⦁ To analyze policy decisions in light of these trends, and identify the specific challenges facing micro enterprise development programs.
⦁ To assess the opportunities for your organization to receive DOL contract and grant
